Dr. Kavitha did her MBBS from Trivandrum Medical College and Post Graduation in Ophthalmology from Regional Institute of Ophthalmology, Trivandrum. She passed Diplomate of the National Board of Examinations, New Delhi from Chennai.

She has undergone fellowship in diabetic retinopathy at Aravind Eye Hospital, Madurai.

She was awarded First Prize in The International Ophthalmology Quiz competition at the OASIS Conference held in 2005.

She has OP at Trivandrum and Varkala branches of the hospital.
